What We Are All About

Christine’s experience as a parent and aunt has taught her what a good child care provider does.

Your child can enjoy outdoor activities away from crowded streets and lots of adult interaction and on nice days fishing is a possibility; they might even catch a fish or two.

Daily Stroller rides and walks when weather is cooperative.
Your child can learn about the importance of the environment by taking nature walks, seeing flowers bloom, and learning different types of trees and plants.

They will learn about animals by watching birds, squirrels, fish, chickens, and deer in their natural habitat instead of cages, kennels, or aquariums.

They can also learn how we get our food by planting, tending, and harvesting their very own garden. How amazed and proud will your child be when they show you what they grew from a seed? They may even start eating vegetables.

Winter may bring snow, so we offer fun with a safe environment for snowman building, sledding, sipping hot chocolate, and many other activities.

If you want your child to learn about the great outdoors, being environmentally conscious, and good moral values, Knotty Creek Farm Child Care and Activity Center is the place.

Whooping Cough

I just wanted you all to be aware of the news the Health Nurse forwarded to us today. I know some of your kiddo's have had a cough, and I know a few of you are concerned about it - although everyone's immuzations here at Knotty Creek Child Care are up to date.

I was contacted by the Des Moines County Health Department today and informed that there have been several cases of Whooping Cough in Des Moines County recently. They requested our help in spreading the word to area child care providers that we work with. We are asked to encourage providers to make sure that their day care children are up-to-date on their vaccinations (Whooping cough vaccinations are given at 2, 4, 6 & 15 months and 4 years.) and that they use proper (frequent) hand washing and disinfecting of toys/environment. Also an FYI: older children and adults can now get a whooping cough vaccination along with their tetanus vaccination. That combo shot is called TDAP and cost $35.00. Some insurance companies might cover the vaccination. Families with no/limited insurance can be referred to the Des Moines County Health Department for assistance with vaccinations.
